@Ryan_Fox_Squire_SafeGraph Previously, in the SafeGraph I had purchased to initially explore it, I was filtering the dowloaded POIs by category (i.e. restaurants) before downloading. Where can I find an equivalent category to group businesses in a specific sector in the historic data?
This requires merging with the core dataset right?
@Luis_E_Quintero, yes core has both top_category (e.g., restaurants) and sub_category which is a bit more granular). You can merge on safegraph_place_id
I missed looking in the core file because previously it was included. The merging var is safegraph_place_id then. Thanks!
Something about the interpretation of the Overview files.
- num_unique_visitors in [visit_panel_summary.csv] is NOT the sum of POI num_unique_visitors for that same time period and geography right? In the former, a unique visitor to multiple POIs is not counted multiple times correct?
- Why aren’t number_devices_residing from [home_panel_summary.csv] equal to num_unique_visitors in [visit_panel_summary.csv]? One possible answer is that there are some people who stay home the whole month and do not add to the number of unique visitors. However, sometimes the number of unique visitors is larger than the number of devices ( 39,944,996 total devices and 41,599,633 in March 2019 for example).
@Luis_E_Quintero these are good general questions. Would you mind re-posting them in #safegraphdata and I can answer them there and others will be able to benefit from the answers too
Would you mind re-posting?
Sure
