Anyone else working on converting their use from the Data Catalog to the Places API? We’re currently using Weekly Patterns to get counts of restaurant and bar visits by county, nationwide, and it looks like we’ll run into a pile of request limits.
• only 20 POIs per response (400k POIs match our current filtering criteria, so this is a big deal)
• either 1000 or 100 queries per minute, depending on whether multi-POI queries count as bulk or not (the documentation doesn’t say)
• based on monthly, not weekly, data releases (this would 4x or 5x the worst-case staleness of the data we’re using for forecasts, which isn’t great)
additional detail — we run continuously (every week) so we definitely prefer API to Shop

we’ll look into adjusting the maximum page size and rate limit
but note that Weekly Patterns isn’t yet available via the API. it’s on our roadmap though, and it would likely be available closer to the end of July
I have an email saying Data Catalog will be depreciated (deprecated?) on June 23. Do you have any recommendations for what we should use between then and when Weekly Patterns is added to the API?
